How to Draw an Object to Look Like It Is Moving

Aug 7, 2009 06:48 PM

Have you ever created a picture of maybe a globe or even Superman and tried to make it look like it was whizzing through space but couldn't find out how? Well, look no further.

Draw your moving object.

Add two or so little lines underneath the object, such as bees or spinning globes. This will help to give the effect of movement. These lines should contour with the shape of the object.

Draw clothing on characters. Draw rippled lines in the clothing to give the impression of a breeze or movement of a body part.

  • Draw lines moving in a downwards direction to reflect gravitational pull; and
  • Draw horizontal or diagonal lines for body movement or wind movement.

Draw water. To give the impression of running water, include long squiggly or rippling lines for a river, or make circles within circles to give the effect of somebody dropping a pebble into still water. Water breaking onto rocks should include foam and if you are using color, change the shade of water from blue to green as it hits the rocks.

Things You'll Need
