although the construction is right, it's better to use long strokes instead of short sketchy strokes. It would also help to start with an underdrawing of the skull. (ie- circle for the head then add the jaw line) to give the drawing more dimension. A lot of artist get good enough to skip this step but it should be taught first and perfected before skipping. :)
