How to Write Like a Tagger

Aug 7, 2009 06:55 PM

Want to create your own cool fonts and letterings? Just read below for some starter tips.

Collect the materials below.

Go to a local train yard or other places where there is a lot of graffiti and look around to find styles you like. Use Google to search for different styles as well.

Observe how different letters are made with individual shapes; for example, in the letter T there are 2 parts, the "-" and "|")

Always come up with new fonts and ways to write, and document them in your sketch book.

Practice practice practice! Make your art into what you want it to be!

Tips

  • Practice!
  • Use fonts online to help create your own style.

Warnings

  • Tagging any property, public or private, that you do not own, is illegal, so don't do it unless you want to get arrested.

Things You'll Need

  • Sharpies (at least 2 of every kind and color)
  • Sketch book (black book for taggers)
